Atlanta appliance repair with a real diagnosis first
Atlanta Stove, Range & Cooktop Repair
When one burner quits, you can cook around it for a while. When the igniter will not stop clicking, the glass top stays cold or two burners fail in the same week, the kitchen slows to a crawl. Alex Appliances Repair repairs gas, electric and induction stoves, ranges and cooktops in homes and businesses across the Atlanta area — starting with a real diagnosis so you know exactly what you are paying to fix.

Range, Stove or Cooktop?
People use the words loosely, and that is fine — we repair all three.
- A range (often called a stove) has a cooktop and an oven in one appliance: freestanding, slide-in or professional-style.
- A cooktop is built into the counter with no oven beneath it: gas, radiant electric or induction.
- A rangetop is a professional-style gas cooktop that slides into the counter, often with a griddle or grill.
If your oven is the part that is acting up, see our Oven Repair page. This page covers the burners, elements and controls on top.
Gas Burner Problems
The burner will not light, but it clicks. The spark is there, but the flame does not catch. A burner cap that is out of place, a clogged burner port or moisture from a spill are common. A weak spark at the electrode is another.
The igniter clicks nonstop, even with the knob off. Water or grease got into a spark switch behind the knob, or the spark module has failed. Unplug the range and let it dry; if the clicking returns, the switch or module needs replacing.
No click at all. The spark module, a wire or a switch has failed, or the range is not getting power.
Yellow, lazy or uneven flame. The burner ports are partly blocked, or the air-to-gas mix is off. A gas range should burn with a mostly blue flame.
Burner lights, then goes out. On models with flame-failure safety, a thermocouple or sensor that no longer senses the flame shuts the gas off.
Gas smell. Turn the burners off and do not light anything. If the smell remains, leave the house and call your gas company or 911 from outside. We repair the range once the gas company has made it safe.
Electric and Glass-Top Problems
One coil or radiant zone does not heat. A burned-out element, a failed infinite switch behind the knob, or a scorched terminal block. On coil tops, a loose receptacle is common.
A zone only heats on high. The infinite switch that cycles the element is stuck. It is usually a straightforward part.
The element stays on and will not turn off. A failed switch or relay. Turn off the breaker until the repair.
Cracked glass top. Stop using the cooktop and switch it off at the breaker; a crack can let spills reach live parts. The glass can be replaced on many models.
Hot surface light stays on. A faulty limiter or indicator switch.
Induction Cooktop Problems
The zone flashes and will not heat. Induction only works with magnetic cookware. If a magnet does not stick to the bottom of the pot, it will not work on induction. If your pan is right and the zone still will not heat, the power board, a coil or a sensor may have failed.
Error codes or a fan that runs constantly. Induction cooktops have cooling fans and temperature sensors to protect the electronics. A blocked vent or a failed fan can trigger shutdowns.
Clicking or buzzing. Some hum is normal at high power. Loud or new noises are worth a check.

How Alex Handles a Stove Repair
- You tell us what is happening. Call or send the form; we answer 24/7. The brand, fuel type and symptom help us bring the right parts.
- We set the earliest available time on the route for your ZIP code.
- The technician diagnoses the range. Spark and flame checks on gas burners, resistance and voltage tests on electric elements and switches, power board and coil tests on induction.
- You get the facts. What failed, what the repair involves, and whether it makes sense for your range. You decide.
- We repair and test with genuine or OEM-approved parts, then light or power each burner before we leave. Parts and labor on the range are then under warranty for up to 6 months.
Ranges and Cooktops We Service
We repair freestanding, slide-in, drop-in and professional-style ranges, as well as gas, electric radiant, coil and induction cooktops and gas rangetops. Brands we work on include Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG, KitchenAid, Maytag, Frigidaire, Electrolux, Bosch, Amana, Kenmore, Viking, Thermador, Wolf and Miele. Alex Appliances Repair is an independent repair company and has no affiliation with these manufacturers; brand names identify the equipment we repair.
Professional-Style Ranges and Rangetops
Large ranges with heavy grates, sealed high-output burners, griddles and infrared broilers are built for years of hard use, but they have more parts than a standard stove.
Sealed burners and simmer. Professional-style burners often have dual flame rings for high heat and a gentle simmer. A clogged inner ring or a misaligned burner head can leave you with a burner that roars on high but goes out on low.
Re-ignition. Many of these ranges relight a burner automatically if the flame goes out. When the spark keeps firing while the flame is lit, a dirty electrode, a weak ground or a faulty module is usually the reason.
Griddles and grills. These have their own burners, thermostats and igniters. Grease buildup is the most common enemy.
Oven sections. Many large ranges have two ovens with separate igniters, sensors and fans, so one oven can fail while the other works.
These ranges are almost always worth repairing, and our technicians are used to their heavier construction.
Repair or Replace?
Burner parts, spark modules, switches, elements and igniters are inexpensive next to the appliance. Most ranges and cooktops are well worth repairing.
Replacement can make more sense when a glass top is cracked on an older, basic cooktop, when the main control board of an aging model is no longer available, or when a range has rusted through. We tell you which situation you are in.
Simple Care for Burners and Glass Tops
- Let spills cool, then clean them up before they bake into burner ports.
- Clean gas burner caps and heads gently and let them dry fully before putting them back.
- Use cleaners made for glass and ceramic tops; avoid abrasive pads.
- Do not slide heavy cast iron across a glass top.
- Keep the vent and fan openings of induction cooktops clear.
- Use cookware that sits flat and matches the size of the burner or zone.

Quick answers before you book
Stove, Range & Cooktop Repair FAQ
01A gas burner sparks but never catches. Why?
Usually the burner cap is misaligned, the ports are clogged or moisture got into the burner. If cleaning and drying do not help, the electrode or spark module may be weak.
02Why won't my igniter stop clicking?
Water or grease in a spark switch is the most common reason. If it keeps clicking after the range dries out, the switch or the spark module needs replacing.
03Is a cracked glass cooktop repairable?
On many models, yes. We check part availability for your model and tell you whether replacing the glass makes sense.
04Can you fix an induction cooktop too?
Yes. We diagnose power boards, coils, sensors and cooling fans on induction cooktops.
05Do you repair professional-style ranges and rangetops?
Yes, including models from Wolf, Viking and Thermador.
06Will the technician also look at my oven?
Yes. If the oven on the same range has a problem, mention it when you book and we will check both.
07Is the stove repair covered after you leave?
Up to 6 months on parts and labor for every range or cooktop repair.
